In Need of Funds to Help Grow or Start Your Business? You May be Eligible for a Grant…..

Do you need some extra funds to help grow your business further?  Or perhaps you’re just starting a business and need funds to help you get started?

You may have had a quick search on Google and, if anything like me, been instantly frustrated (that’s putting it politely) at the lack of clarity of options available to you.  I’m hoping that this blog post will act as a useful resource for you to fill that gap and be more helpful to you than a multitude of Google searches.

Please feel free to share this page with colleagues/friends/family that you think may benefit. Likewise, do leave any further recommended sites in the comments section that you think may be helpful to others.

There are many ways that you can obtain additional funds, including bank loans, financial support from friends/family, crowd-funding, competitions, grants and many more.  I’m going to focus on grants for this blog as I haven’t researched crowd-funding and the others speak for themselves.  First-up I need to point out that many of the grants that I’ve tracked down do require a ‘deposit’ – think mortgage deposit – to have been saved, I  guess this shows that you’re serious and willing to put some effort into the business which is fair enough.  So tip #1 is get saving!

Grants are based on a variety of different niches…be it location, age, technology based businesses, research based businesses, rural location. So I’ll break them down for you by category:

The Rural Development Programme for England provides money for projects to improve agriculture, the environment and rural life.  You may be able to apply for funding if you’re:

  • a farmer, grower or forester
  • managing land or woodland
  • a business owner in a rural area
  • a food business
  • living in a rural community
